Be a Courteous Rider

You see many displays of discourtesy on the road everyday. These are not just brought on by speeding or weaving in and out of traffic or tailgating. Discourtesy can include
  1. Failure to give proper signals in time when turning
  2. Sounding the horn unnecessarily
  3. Haphazard parking
  4. Steering with one hand and smoking with the other
  5. Riding in the middle of the road and blocking other vehicles' passage
  6. Speeding through water and splashing pedestrians
  7. Squeezing through tight spaces between cars during slow or stationery traffic and causing damage to those vehicles
  8. Unnecessary noise caused by modified exhausts
  9. Callous maintenance of motorcycles, causing smoke emission and pollution of the environment
In fact, some acts are so inconsiderate they often bring on danger to other road users and worse yet, cause accidents
  1. Riding fast when visibility is bad
  2. Overtaking around a bend or at areas when others cannot see the rider
  3. Deliberately preventing other vehicles from overtaking by speeding up
  4. Riding abreast in a convoy
  5. Speeding in a convoy and overtaking other vehicles
  6. Callous maintenance of motorcycles - if your headlights or tail lights are not working, other vehicles cannot see you in the dark; this also applies to worn out rear reflectors
  7. Wearing dark clothes at night makes you almost invisible to other road users
  8. Continuing a journey when you are tired may cause you to lose concentration and slow down in reflexes - do take a break at a rest stop to refresh before proceeding on your way
